The Peck Commons: The hub of campus and community

The Peck School has always been driven by the needs of our students, and we have long maintained a closely knit, warmly welcoming school community around them.

The Peck Commons project lies at the heart of both our campus and our commitment to all members of this inclusive, involved school family. The Peck Commons is a pragmatic way to address logistical issues with our dining hall and create home bases for specialized programming. It also honors an atmosphere in which every student at every grade level is known and valued—and, in turn, learns the value of knowing others.

At its completion in the summer of 2019, the Peck Commons project will fulfill practical, everyday purposes while also serving as a kind of community hearth—a special space in which we gather to mark milestone moments.
Among many objectives, The Peck Commons project encompasses:

  • A multipurpose gathering and event space, where Peck families come together for assemblies, class performances, and formative community-building moments like World Cultures evenings, Kairos events, plays, musicals, and performances.

  • A new dining hall and kitchen, to build on our longstanding tradition of family-style dining. Kitchen improvements and strategic layout decisions create a more comfortable and practical dining room, facilitate expanded food choices, and foster warm, meaningful connections at every shared meal.

  • A reconfigured campus entrance, which reveals the timeless beauty of Lindenwold to the larger community. We will also use the same construction project to improve parking and traffic flow for all Peck visitors—allowing prospective and current families to enter campus more easily and exit more safely.

  • An elevated performing arts program, featuring two new acoustically engineered music classrooms with an adjoining practice room, sophisticated lighting and audio-visual equipment for performances and assemblies in the new multi-purpose room, and a new Green Room and dressing rooms.

  • A campus store, where families can support the school and obtain spirit wear and school gear—increasing community pride and Peck’s visibility throughout the Morristown area.

  • An expanded outdoor play area, which will make the most of our campus grounds and allow students to enjoy more exercise and play throughout the school day.

Lower School Parent

We wanted to do more than send our daughter to school. We wanted an opportunity to partner with teachers and collaborate with other families throughout the process of her education. Peck welcomes that kind of involvement and facilitates those important alignments between the home, the classroom, and the school community.
